Around the world today, 8th March, is celebrated as International Women’s Day. A day to reflect on the incredible achievements that women have made in the past and present and enlightens everyone about creating a gender-equal society.
Today we are celebrating all of our amazing female staff here at Suki. We have put together some of the amazing achievements our girls have accomplished in the last year.
Annie, the amazing Director & Co-Founder of Suki was recently selected for the panel to speak at Ladies Who Launch, Belfast event in February. A very proud moment for her to be on stage on home turf with a tenacious group of ladies in front of a packed house of 300 inspiring female entrepreneurs! Each shared significant and vulnerable moments from both their professional and personal journeys, with Annie telling the story of the Suki beginnings, from a £300 investment to 15 years later exporting to 20+ countries worldwide. The room was simply buzzing and it is fantastic to reflect on their journeys and recognise successes – personally we think women don’t do this enough! Annie said recently "I live by the rule that ‘I can do anything’ and this is the message that I constantly convey to my 3 young children. I want them to follow their dreams, not mine. I’m also wise enough to understand that ‘I can’t do everything’ so big love and shout out to my support network of family, friends and colleagues!"
Our Technical & NPD Manager Alex was shortlisted for the Outstanding Innovation Award at the Women in Business Awards 2019.
Naomi, our wonderful Technical Assistant, began her placement year with us through Queen's University and has since gained her Level 3 Internal Auditing and HACCP qualifications to help with her future career in the food & drinks industry.
Our Sales & Marketing Manager Zoë has spent a lot of the past year working on our brand-new website suki-tea.com. Her extremely hard work has paid off and we are all so proud of our new look! Alongside Zoë on the Marketing team is Grace, Grace graduated from Ulster University with a First Class Honours and began an internship with Suki back in September as our new Marketing Assistant, her excellent work and contribution to the marketing team has proved invaluable and her role has been extended until she heads off on her travels later in the year.
Victoria, our lovely Office Manager, has very recently sale agreed on a new house and will be moving in the next few months.
In our hard working Finance Team, Annette came 1st place in our Fairtrade Bake Off last week. She baked some outstanding and definitely award-winning Salted Caramel Squares!! Sarah went camping for the first time ever with her family this year. Which can be a huge challenge with our changeable weather here in Northern Ireland!
And in our fantastic production team Ewelina passed her driving test this year, first attempt. Whilst Patrycja passed her official Massage Exam and is moving on to advanced level - we're happy to let her practice on us any time! Julie has successfully completed puppy training at home - something that takes time and patience!
This has all been achieved within the past 12 months, we have enjoyed taking some time to look back on our successes both on a personal level and within the business. Our team of strong, independent ladies are unstoppable!! Here's to the next 12 months....
We are also appreciating our wider community, for example the farmers and workers in Fairtrade and the many creative, ambitious ladies that have helped us on our journey to where we are today.
Happy International Women's Day to the strong and inspirational women in our society. Grab a cuppa and celebrate them, each and everyone of the wonderful women who inspire us on a daily basis!
