SUKI TEA CELEBRATES ITS LARGEST GREAT TASTE AWARD WIN TO DATE!

Great Taste Awards
Great Taste is all about flavour, no packaging or smart marketing gimmicks buy brownie points here. Suki Tea is therefore proud to announce a win of 12 stars across 10 products in this year’s Great Taste Award s, their biggest win to date! At the awards, judges are simply presented with the drink to taste and provide valuable. To win the 1-Star represents a ‘simply delicious’ product, a 2-Star means that a minimum of 10 judges thought it ‘outstanding’, and 3-stars commends a product that is considered ‘totally exquisite and faultless’. Great Taste is simply about taste, with many judges tasting and commenting on each product before a rating of 1, 2 or 3 stars are awarded. Belfast-based Suki Tea is celebrating the news that a further 10 of their tea products have wowed the judges in this year’s Great Taste Awards. “After last year’s win of two 3 Star awards, we thought how could we possibly trump that, but with this year’s record breaking win across 10 products we are absolutely delighted that all our hard work continues to pay off year after year” says Annie Rooney, co-director at Suki Tea. Suki Tea’s signature Irish breakfast blend, ‘Belfast Brew’, was awarded 2 stars and praised by the judges for being ‘full bodied, with good hard flavour and bite with an edge’. The spearmint ‘Nana Mint’ blend too was awarded 2 stars with judges commenting ‘Velvety on the palette, we love the freshness, the vibrancy and the balance. We love it!’ Loose leaf blends of Lemongrass & Ginger, Red Berry and Earl Grey Blue Flower also each received 1 star with judges’ comments including ‘fresh and cleansing’ ‘lovely fruit aroma’ and ‘beautiful quality tea’ respectively. The select range of Suki Tea pyramids also saw great success with 5 of the range also awarded with 1 star each. “Only in the past few months we have relaunched the pyramid range in a new prism packaging, offering speciality retailers a beautifully unique product. Great Taste is such a widely trusted award so having this extra ‘stamp of approval’ on the new packaging is invaluable in the launch of the product range” explains Esme Porter, Sales & Marketing at Suki Tea. “The Breakfast Tea and Peppermint pyramids in particular have always proven popular with our customers. This addition of accreditation from the Guild of Fine Food on the Breakfast Tea, Belfast Brew, Earl Grey Blue Flower, Peppermint and Chamomile is fantastic news.” Belfast’s Boutique Blender, Suki Tea, was first set up in 2005 by business partners Annie and Oscar in their quest for the perfect cuppa. After both having spent time separately travelling Asia they returned to Northern Ireland inspired with a vision to provide ethically sourced high quality loose leaf tea delivered with a ceremonial experience. The company’s efforts in ethical sourcing were highlighted in 2012 when they introduced the UK’s first Triple Certified Teas (Fairtrade, Organic and Rainforest Alliance Certified) in their blends of Earl Grey Blue Flower, Darjeeling Bannockburn, and East African Green Luponde. Still hand-packing tea in Belfast and with a close knit team of 14, over the years they have won over 30 Guild of Fine Food Great Taste Stars. The tea has been served up at cafes, restaurants, and hotels around the UK and across the world for a number of years now and is also available to buy on their brand new website as well as many independent delicatessens and garden centres.
