Green Tea Lemon is our first brand new tea launch of 2019... how EXCITING! This is a zesty, refreshing green tea. It's a great cuppa to enjoy at anytime of the day!
Tasting Notes: sweet, lemon, golden
The wonderful citrus aromas of this brewed green tea and tingling, fresh lemon peel complement one another perfectly. We started with a tea base of a light Sencha Green Tea from China, the addition of lemon peel & natural lemon flavour gives this tea the refreshing aroma and flavour of real citrus lemon, with a delightfully sherberty sweet mouth feel lifted by the freshness of the lemon. Not too dry or too citrusy, a great all rounder!
Not usually a big fan of green tea? Are you brewing it correctly? Green tea leaves are very delicate and boiling water should never be poured straight onto the leaves as this damages them, resulting in a sour taste. This tea requires water at approximately 75 degrees and brewed for around 3 minutes.
Health Benefits:
New year, new you? If you're looking to make some healthier choices in 2019 (well... for the first few weeks anyway) This is the perfect and delicious swap for your numerous cups of caffeine dense coffee.
Green tea is made from unoxidised leaves and is one of the least processed types of tea. It therefore contains the most antioxidants and beneficial polyphenols, helping to protect your body's cells from damage.
The naturally occurring antioxidants in green tea are also boosted with the addition of lemon, which is full of important nutrients. Lemon juice also reduces the effect of certain compounds in green tea that can restrict your ability to absorb iron from foods. Definitely worth making one swap and enjoying a cup of green tea lemon per day.
How we like it:
Brew 2-3g of green tea lemon with 200ml of water at a temperature between 75 and 80 degrees and leave to infuse for 3 to 4 minutes.
One heaped teaspoon per cup, allow the freshly boiled water to cool for one minute, if (like me) you can't wait, a splash of cold water on the loose leaf tea in the pot first with protect the leaves and cool the water, allow to infuse for about 4 minutes, also perfect for rebrewing!
This tea can be served cooled to make a refreshing iced tea drink when the sun shines!
Iced Tea Method:
For one Jug of Iced Tea - add 8g of loose leaf tea to the jug, gently pour 1 cup of hot water first onto the tea leaves, next add 3 cups of cold water, place in the fridge and let it brew, usually for 2 - 6 hours dependent on desired strength. Pour tea over ice cubes and Enjoy!
Pick up a little bag of green tea lemon for half price all the way through January!
