Meet the Maker: René Mullin & Limited Edition “TAE” Screen Print
In the heart of Belfast’s creative community, René Mullin has been crafting unique, hand-pulled screen prints for over two decades. Her work, often on Irish linen, merges traditional techniques with contemporary design, blending heritage with modern aesthetics.
René’s journey began in Edinburgh, where she explored linocut and screen printing. Upon returning to Ireland, she embraced her family’s connections to the linen industry, using this sustainable material as her primary canvas. From her new studio in Strangford, Co Down, René hand-designs and produces every piece, ensuring authenticity and personal touch.
We share René’s passion for creativity and local craftsmanship. SUKI has been a long-time supporter of the arts, has sponsored initiatives like the Suki Tea Art Prize and collaborated with educational programs to inspire future generations of artists.
This year, René has created a limited edition “TAE” screen print, an A3 piece printed on Fabriano 250 g/m² cotton paper. Featuring René’s signature style and a custom “tea pot red” colour, each print is unique, signed and numbered, with only 100 printed Oscar secured 10 which are now available to SUKI customers.
“What an honour to have SUKI feature my work within their offering. SUKI make tea the way everything should be made, with consideration for people, process and place, these considerations mirror mine. I am delighted to have their support and to have my screenprint associated with a such a respected tea merchant. “ René
