ARTISAN MATCHA BOWL - JAMES STANLEY WATSON

£69.00

Designed by Belfast-based ceramicist James Stanley Watson, this hand-thrown tea bowl is inspired by the iconic Harland & Wolff cranes in Belfast and the quiet rituals of Japanese tea ceremonies. Created in collaboration with Suki Tea, it blends industrial heritage with a sense of calm and reflection.

Each bowl is individually made, with layered underglazes and oxides that echo the weathered textures of the shipyard. A tactile reminder of strength, place, and daily ritual. Every piece bears James’ maker’s mark, a personal stamp of its origin and craftsmanship. Every piece truly one of a kind.

"My dad worked in the shipyard, so growing up in Belfast, the giant yellow cranes of Harland & Wolff were always part of the landscape - familiar, towering, and full of quiet intrigue. I’ve always looked at them with a mixture of fondness and curiosity". JSW.

These bowls carry subtle traces of that industrial legacy: The textures, glazes, and form echo the strength and structure of the cranes, while also embracing the wabi-sabi spirit of imperfection and quiet beauty.
