BACK TO BASICS

Back to Basics

This month, at Suki Tea Makers, we’re celebrating the return to analogue. Day to day life is busy. Especially in our industry. The hustle and bustle to get through breakfast, lunch and dinner service, remembering to post the reels, order stock, post more reels; whilst exciting and to be honest, feels very fortunate in today’s climate – we’re all in need of a quiet moment, a return to analogue, a time to brew.

Let’s get back to basics. We know how much consideration goes into choosing the right coffee, the same should be done for your tea. We always suggest having a core range of 6 bestsellers. The most important one? The black tea. I cannot TELL you the joy our pot of Belfast Brew brings us at Suki HQ at 10:30 every single morning. Pair it with a sausage bap or a fry? Ooft.

Loose-leaf will yield you the highest margin, one scoop per teapot, makes it for a very swift drink to make operationally, and makes training new staff a doddle. Treat your black tea offering with as much care are you do your lattes, and your flat whites. You customers will notice the care, they will notice the consideration for the best quality there is, and not as an afterthought.

After you have chosen your black tea, your herbals, fruits and greens, the next step is to tell your customers about it. Seems simple right? We list our americanos, our lattes, and flat whites on our menu board, I urge you to do the same for your tea. Belfast Brew, Green Sencha, Whole Peppermint, Earl Grey Blue Flower, Apple Loves Mint, Lemongrass & Ginger. The biggest barrier is to list your tea offering as ‘tea’ – customers don’t have the time to ask, or if they do, you have normally lost them by the time you have got to tea number 3 (that's if they can hear you).

Finally. Let your customers see the tea. Our teas are gorgeous! The bright colourful cornflowers in the Earl Grey Blue Flower, or the rose buds in the long standing favourite Apple Loves Mint. They are eye catching, and when you see them lined up on a shelf behind the coffee bar, give an old school sweetie shop vibe. Speaking of which, have you seen our new Suki branded glass jars? If your current set up looks a bit tired, contact us to refresh your storage solutions.

This month, we are running a promotion across a number of our bestsellers, check your emails in the next day or two for the details on the promotion. If you’re not signed up to our trade newsletter, let us know and we’ll make sure you’re a part of it.

I encourage you to take a moment, check your tea stocks and have a look at your range. Email orders@suki-tea.com to top up, to refresh and to avail of a fabulous offer for the month of February.
