This delicious Matcha Coconut Latte is quick and easy to make and a perfect substitute for your morning coffee or an afternoon pick me up!
The caffeine levels found in Japanese Matcha would equal about half the levels of a cup of coffee, however the key thing is the slow release energy you get from a cup.
We decided to use Coconut Milk for a little extra flavour that you can't get from regular milk. It adds an extra hint of sweetness to the latte.
What you’ll need:
1/2 Cup of Hot Water
1/2 Cup of Coconut Milk
1/2 tsp Matcha
Matcha Whisk & Bowl
1 tsp Honey
Method
In a bowl, whisk 1/2 cup of hot water (not boiling, about 70°C) and Matcha together. Mix well, making sure there are no lumps left in the mix. See our Preparing Matcha blog for more top tips on the perfect matcha shot.
Add a teaspoon of honey to the matcha and whisk some more.
Froth 1/2 a cup of coconut milk and heat until just steaming.
Fill your mug half way with your Matcha & honey mix and add the frothy coconut milk on top and enjoy!
You can also try this recipe with other milk alternatives. We also love it with almond milk for a nuttier flavour!
