This January, most of the Suki team took on the Matcha Challenge, committing to a matcha every day for the month. The idea was simple: drink it daily, enjoy it however you like, and see how it feels.
Throughout the challenge, matcha showed up in lots of different forms. Some of us kept it classic with a matcha shot, but the majority of us preferred lattes. What everyone agreed on was how easy it was to fit into a daily routine.
Matcha is made from finely ground green tea leaves, meaning you consume the whole leaf rather than just an infusion. Because of this, it naturally contains antioxidants, along with caffeine balanced by L-theanine - a combination often associated with sustained energy and focus.
After a month of matcha, here’s what some of the team thought:
“Since we started the matcha challenge, I have replaced my normal 2nd coffee of the day with a matcha latte around 11am. I find myself more productive in the afternoons and will continue this daily matcha for the foreseeable future.” - Amy, Sales Manager.
“As a non-coffee drinker I was excited to try the Suki tea monthly challenge after reading up on the health benefits matcha can have, and I wasn't disappointed. Various types of matcha was taken over the month, some with syrups, some without out & various types of barista milk was also enjoyed. All were nice on the palette and provided a slow release of additional energy during the day. It was also enjoyable meeting up with other staff members during this challenge for a matcha chat.” - Patrick, Operations Manager.
“I’ve always treated myself to an iced matcha when I’m out, but making it myself each day felt more purposeful. I ended up really enjoying the hot matcha lattes, and the few minutes we took to make them was a great chance to step away our desks on busy days and have a wee catch up.” – Abby, Marketing & Customer Sales Assistant.
“During January, everyone at Suki took turns making matcha for the team. We tried it loads of different ways, some we loved and some we definitely wouldn’t make again! But it became a really nice daily ritual. A lot of us ended up swapping out our usual coffee for it, as it gave us a little boost in the middle of the day. More than anything, it gave us a chance to pause, chat and come together, which strengthened our team bond and became something we looked forward to.” – Kerrie, Technical and NPD Assistant.
By the end of January, what surprised us most was how many people wanted to keep going and now continue this daily in the office. The challenge didn’t feel intense, it just felt like a positive swap and an easy habit to maintain.
If you’re looking for a simple, natural way to support energy and focus, matcha is well worth trying!
